Planting Mangrove plants and preserving the species!

FUNDS RAISED  £ 60

I am a year ten student studying at Archbishops’ School, Canterbury, Kent. I have been given the opportunity to work as a volunteer in Kenya 2012. I am working for one month on several educational projects working alongside the people in different Kenyan villages.

The projects will be ongoing, where hopefully the Kenyan people, helped by the British interns, will continue the positive and everlasting changes. The scheme’s organisers, staff and students also work together with the Kenyan communities to help preserve nature and wildlife. The projects will focus on developing economic efficiency by improving the people’s daily lives and living conditions in a sustainable and on-going way. These projects will develop their personal livelihoods, their living conditions as well as educate the children. The projects offer the opportunities of planting seeds and trees and a fully functional system offering fresh clean water. This opportunity will allow me to be enriched with newly developed skills in an international, multi-racial, and culturally diverse community. The expeditions will provide me with unique opportunities to integrate with new cultures, speak a new language, and make new and lasting friendships. The tasks that lie ahead will improve my leadership and team working skills. I will learn more about myself as an individual, whilst completing personal challenges that hopefully will enhance many peoples’ lives. Most of all, I will be able to appreciate a different way of life without things that we take for granted!

I have always wanted to work in Africa, especially after watching the insight stories shown on television, mostly brought to us by Comic Relief. My school has provided students from year 10 and 11 this wonderful opportunity. In order to fulfil this lifetime opportunity, I need to raise £3480, which will cover the cost of the flight, the three meals per day for one month, my accommodation and the several projects that I will working on with Kenyan citizens. I am going to fundraise on an individual basis, with other interested students and raise money from ideas that will be arranged by the organisers and their school. However, I am aware that I need your kind assistance and seek a donation which will enable me to provide a bright future for many people living in Kenya and giving me this lifetime opportunity.

Thank you for reading.
